Do I really need personas, storytelling, mood boards, journey mapping, or brand archetypes?
Nope.
Just say no
When searching for a web designer, you’ll likely encounter a baffling array of packages, plans, processes, and magic products. These “special” services are easy to spot — their titles typically feature buzzwords like blueprint, playbook, workshop, or roadmap.
Do you really need all this stuff?
Probably not. Most of it was invented by amateur designers and self-proclaimed marketing “experts” to line their pockets, not yours.
It’s been our experience that most small business owners just want some honest, straightforward advice. They don’t want more marketing products wrapped in gibberish, they want help with what they already have.
Other things to be skeptical of
Some other trendy products and services you could probably do without:
- branding workshops
- UX prototyping
- stylescapes
- Zoom calls
- lead magnets
- client dashboards
- SEO audits
- anything with the word “funnel” in it
Running a business is hard enough. You don’t need more homework.
